Dark Star (ダークスター, Daaku Sutaa) is a character in the video game No More Heroes. He is a master assassin whose home is a castle hidden far from Santa Destroy, in badlands that border on the Forest of Bewilderment. Ranked first in the United Assassins Association, Dark Star wields the Horse Saber, which projects from its hilt a tendril of energy in the shape of a dragon. Dark Star claims he can dispel the truth about Touchdown's past, even admitting himself to be Touchdown's father. Dark Star beckons Touchdown to remember the night of his parents' murder, however his revelation is cut short when Jeane sneaks onto the scene and stabs him to death. Jeane reminds Touchdown that his father is certainly dead and that he cannot truthfully be Dark Star's son.

Trading cardsEdit

Dark Star appears on three trading cards in the Design Materials set of No More Heroes. These are No. 83, No. 84 and No. 145. Dark Star also appears in silhouette form on Trading Card No. 85, drawing the Horse Saber.

Cultural referencesEdit

  • Concept art on Trading Card No. 83 shows that Dark Star may have originally been planned to remove the entire upper-half of his helmet, leaving only a portion of the lower-half, connecting him to the Star Wars character Darth Vader, particularly his death scene in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
  • Concerning his name and armor design, Dark Star may be inspired by the logo of Darkstar Skateboards.
  • Dark Star's revelation that he is Touchdown's father is a reference to the same revelation Darth Vader makes to Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, although Dark Star's claim may not be entirely true.
