Protector Smiles (プロテクトスマイル, Purotekutosumairu) are enemies in killer7. They are a special variety of Heaven Smile which are first encountered by the Smith Syndicate at ISZK-LAND during the events of Target03: Encounter. However, they are quickly superseded by their improved models, the Protector Z and Protector ZZ Smiles.
Protector Smiles are large, bulky and slow. Their presence can be identified by their deep laugh and the tell-tale heavy clanking noise they make as they walk. Like most Smiles, they simply walk towards their target and explode; however, Protectors are covered in a layer of armour that renders them completely impervious to all forms of attack - except MASK de Smith's standard incendiary grenades. (MASK's other attacks do nothing to them.) They are one of the few enemies in the game, along with the other Protector models, from which MASK can obtain Thick Blood.
