Ranking Battles are competitions in the No More Heroes video game series where a United Assassins Association member challenges a higher-ranked assassin to a match. Ranking Battles are generally taken as fights to the death, and as such it is customary for the loser of the match to be killed, but this is not always the case. If the challenger is victorious, he or she replaces their opponent in rank. While in No More Heroes protagonist Travis Touchdown only ascends the ranks of the UAA, in No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, he also has to defend his rank from challenger Kimmy Howell. The location of a Ranking Battle is called an Extreme Murder Battle Stage.
