Soul Boosters (ソウルブースター, Sourubūsutā) are items featured in Shadows of the DAMNED. They are disembodied human hearts which can be used to replenish Garcia's soul meter while he is in the Darkness. Once the soul meter runs out, Garcia's health will start to dwindle; picking up another Soul Booster at this point will not grant Garcia any more health, but will completely refill his soul meter, preventing him from any more damage for a brief period.
