The Outer Rim is the first proper studio album by the band of the same name. Released in 2008, the album features a mix of ambient and upbeat original jazz compositions, including the N.M.H. The Outer Rim Remix version of the main No More Heroes theme featured on No More Heroes Sound Tracks: Dark Side and the No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle Original Soundtrack. The album also features the voices of Robin Atkin Downes and Paula Tiso, who reprise their roles as Travis Touchdown and Sylvia Christel respectively.

Travis and Sylvia[]

Tracks 1 and 5 both feature conversations between Travis and Sylvia, who, unlike their ambiguous relationship in No More Heroes, are both deeply in love with each other. It is revealed in the first track that the two married and subsequently travelled into space, and also that they have become immortal. When Travis digs up an old music box on 'Satellite 13', he gives it to Sylvia as her birthday present; upon activation miniature replicas of the band members begin to play, and Sylvia decides to name them 'The Outer Rim'.

Later, in 'IYOGIN', Travis tells Sylvia about a dream he had recently, describing how a record store in Tokyo he used to shop at suddenly closed one day. 'Black goons', who, according to Sylvia, were U.A.A. agents, showed up and intimidated the owner into shutting down before confiscating all the music. Travis describes how he unsuccessfully tried to plead with them to give it back, and realises that the music box's music must have triggered the memories.
